Engraving process- In the engraving of monuments the depth of cutting is very important to an enduring presentation of the stone. We strive to engrave each stone to a depth that ensures the natural shadowing effect of the well carved inscriptions that will be readable for eternity. An additional step that we always undertake is to “double process” each stone with designs that call for “Flashed Panels”. These are the areas of a design where the polish is removed to create a contrast to make any inscription stand out. The reason we double process is that this protects the carving with the cleanest lines creating the sharpest, cleanest engraving. There is a significant difference in doing this and we commit the time to do so over a single process.
Expanded details
1. Most cemeteries will have restrictions on markers and monuments that range from type and size and often can include color, designs, finishes and more. You will need to function as the contact person with the cemetery and make sure you understand the type of stone you are looking at will meet their requirements. Please contact them for this guidance prior to purchasing a stone.
2. Listed price includes the face carving of this stone with the design shown along with your text information Name- dates- design element, sentiment up to 20 characters
3. Shipping, as priced in our listing, covers delivery by USPS priority flat rate. The weight of this stone packed is 59 lbs. The box is rated for 70 lbs.
4. A graphic of your stone will be created by our designer and sent to you through your personal email you have attached to this account. We do not create graphics prior to purchase but will in any instance refund 100% of cost of purchase if we are unable to get a graphic design that meets your needs. In addition, many Cemeteries will require design approval as standard procedure. The graphic we provide will meet their needs for approval and we will not engrave any stone prior to your approval. Again, in any instance, if the design does not meet the cemetery approval and we are unable to make changes that will allow the stone to be placed we are happy to refund 100%. Custom designs outside of simple changes to designs shown will add design costs to the stone. If you have ideas as to what you want for a design please contact us prior to purchase for pricing.
5. The setting or placement of the stone will be your responsibility. Many cemeteries will offer stone setting for a fee, some retail dealers will set stones shipped in but not all. In some cases, our customers set the stone. We do not provide specific instructions on this but would refer you to many sources of stone setting on YouTube. Most stones will require a foundation and that is also your responsibility to contract, check with your cemetery. A great resource for setting of a stone where a cemetery does not offer the service is a local funeral home that sells stones. They are often contracting with a local for the service.
6. The final delivery address must be on the sales transaction order. Simply said, this is the “ship to address” in the system. You can change this address at the time of the order on your checkout screen. We will not and cannot change the ship to address after the order is placed as it violates this site shipping policy.
7. The options in the listing will direct you on how to submit your information for engraving. We do not take information over the phone or prior to purchase.
8. Carved Impressions ships thousands of stones per year with a less than 1% damage occurrence. Please make sure to inspect or have your delivery location inspect the stone for damage prior to signing for the delivery and refuse the stone if there is damage. If possible, take a picture of the damage for us and contact us ASAP. Carved Impressions will remedy the issue with repair or replacement as quickly as possible. We will file any appropriate claim actions on the stone.
9. We will deliver a stone with the exact engraving you have approved. Please note it is your responsibility to carefully inspect every character in the graphic proof we send you for accuracy. We highly suggest having more than one individual involved in this process to eliminate errors. When you approve the graphic that is what we will engrave- there is no opportunity after that initial engraving to change a mistake and in most cases a new stone is less expensive than attempting to correct an error. Understand that any error in engraving that you have approved will not be corrected and the engraving will stand as completed so we cannot stress enough the thoroughness that should be employed on examining the graphic for errors.
